Our Latest Story

Episode 1: Bonnie Schmidt – Co-Founder of The IDDeal Foundation

In our latest episode of Inspired by Their Stories, we spoke with Bonnie Schmidt, Co-Founder and Director of Community Relations + Advocacy for The IDDeal Foundation, about the ongoing development of IDDeal Place. Located in Palm Beach County, Florida, this innovative three-acre community is being designed to provide affordable housing and 24-hour expert supervision for 24 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). With individual bedrooms, shared living spaces, and all-inclusive monthly rent under $1,500, IDDeal Place is set to address Florida’s urgent need for IDD housing, where thousands of adults remain on waiting lists.

For Bonnie, this project is deeply personal—her two daughters with IDD will call IDDeal Place home, and she will live on-site as director. Supported by a $1 million state grant and additional funding from the Pulte Family Charitable Foundation, construction is underway, with plans to open by 2026. Tune in to hear Bonnie’s inspiring story and learn how this project is set to transform lives and communities.
